Sweet Beauty

 There's still time!  You've got until August 1 to play along with our fabulous July Challenge at the Seriously Creative Challenge Blog!  It's an awesome challenge, so what are you waiting for???

Mom (Julie) made this lovely piece of cheery-ness!  Here's some details:

From Julie:

I took a un-inked resist canvas page from Prima and used an un-opened mask by Dyan Reavely and Distress inks (Victorian Velvet, Barn Door and Dusty Concord )then sprayed with a Moonshadow Mist (Lindy's Stamp Gang).  I started embellishing with stitches using Bazzill floss and some un-cut netting.  The flowers were highlighted with a purple PITT pen(Faber-Castell) and I also used a chalk pencil to outline them.  More embellishing using some Prima resin flowers and embossed canvas flowers, buttons and Liquid Pearls for accents.

here's a close up:

Other news: Saturated Canary Rubber Stamps are available for pre-order in our online store TODAY!  Can't wait till they get here!

Happy Birthday Dad! {CC2C}

It's my Dad's birthday today and in my search for inspiration to make a fun masculine card, I decided to play along with the current challenge on the Studio L3 blog: CC2C #15, to create my own work of art using the Enameled Metals technique on page 56 of Tim Holtz's book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2.  I played with this technique at Ranger U and it's sooo much fun, with really unique results!    Here's a closer look- you can see the combination of distress & shine on the tag- Love it!
The paper & chipboard I used on the card are BoBunny (love the Weekend Market collection!), a kraft tag and some Tim Holtz touches- number stamp, clock die & embossing folder.

I hope Dad likes his card- if you're reading Dad, I love ya!  Have an amazing day!

Challenge Card {Saturated Canary}

One of the exciting new things at Summer CHA (so much fabulous new stuff coming!) is the release of Saturated Canary designs in RUBBER- we just can't wait to get these pretties in the store!  As I was looking at Basic Grey papers after our POTM class this week, I was thinking how much I wish I had one of the new stamps to play with... so while I didn't have a new stamp, I did have a new freebie digi stamp that was released as a little celebration (it is no longer available... BUT check out the freebies that are available on the Saturated Canary blog!!   You can view the catalog of the new rubber stamps online HERE and send us an email if you'd like to order any (they'll be up in the online store shortly after the arrive)!  They are expected to arrive sometime in August (we hope)!

Anywho... I was inspired by the new papers, new image, new embellishments... and our July Seriously Creative Challenge that encourages us all to USE those things (new or old) that are un-inked, un-cut or un-opened!  We'd love to have you play along with us this month!

I used some new un-opened wooden flags from Jillibean Soup, un-cut papers from Basic Grey (Paper Cottage)...
... un-opened Clip-IT kit by Lifestyle Crafts & un-inked wooden bird by Studio Calico...
... and this fabulous un-inked image by Saturated Canary!
... I also used our brand new un-opened pink ATG "mother of all adhesive tools" :)  It's big enough, I'm hoping I never have to look too hard to find it!  Can't beat the value!

I'm really digging this colour combo- looks like Summertime to me!

As well as encouraging you to play along with our July Seriously Creative Challenge, I'm also entering this card in the following challenges:

12 Tags of 2012: July

What I love about Tim Holtz's July tag is that the technique is quick, fun, easy and super versatile! Who woulda thunk that Tim's patriotic tag would inspire me to create these three pieces...

We had a blast creating with Alcohol Ink in the store today!  We started off with a busy Tag Technique Class (8 awesome techniques!) then came back to make our July Tag after lunch.

First up is a tag I actually made last week, when a couple friends who weren't able to make it today stopped by to play:
I ended up paper piecing the hot air balloon with some Basic Grey paper (Whats Up) and added a charm which I painted with Vintaj Patinas for a burst of colour.

Today I finished up this tag, which got it's start last week as well... still loving my Wild West SOTM set :)
I finished it off with a brass dog tag, which I added alcohol ink to and then stamped with Staz On.

Lastly is a card (I thought 2 tags was enough for now!)- I had fun pulling out some stamps that are old favourites, these ones from A Stamp In the Hand.
Have I mentioned yet how much I love that Tim's 12 Tags are a monthly thing this year? It's so much more fun to have time play along! And did you see? I'm one of the lucky winners for my June tag! So exciting!
Are you playing along with the 12 Tags?  Leave me a comment and I'll be sure to stop by and visit your blog, too!

Inked & Opened: July Challenge!

There's a new Challenge happening on our Seriously Creative Challenge Blog today, and I think it's gonna be a fun and easy one to play along with!  We all have stuff in our stash that is sitting waiting to be inked, cut or opened... makes ya feel kinda sad for them, right? All they want is to be used and to help you create something fabulous, so pull em out (or buy something new if you must!) and USE those babies!  Then show us what you made and tell us what was new that you tried :)

Here's the first project I have to share with you (I'll be back with more through the month, I guarantee it!) and this one is actually a joint effort between Mom & I :)
UN-INKED: new stamps from Impression Obsession, bow charm that we painted with Patina paints & glaze (super fun!)
UN-OPENED: washi tape from Cosmo Cricket

My background was made with the new Summer Distress Inks and a Brushed Corduroy wood grain (IO) over them & the bird was coloured with Distress Markers.  The tag was splattered when I cleaned a stamp... held it beside my stamp and sprayed with water for a fun mist of colour!

Join us over at the Seriously Creative Challenge Blog and show us what you come up with!  Full details on the challenge (including the prize) are there as well :)

July SOTM {Wild West}

It's a new month, which means we've got a new Stamp of the Month to share with you!

The Williams Lake Stampede has been happening for 86 years, I've been running our SOTM program for more than 8 years now... and this is the first time I have ever chosen a western stamp for this program!  I've always hesitated, knowing that not everyone in town is a fan of stampede related stuff... but this year, both Sarah & I fell in love with the Wild West set of stamps designed by Tim Holtz!  Since this was not a typical theme that either of us went for, we figured that maybe some of you would learn to love these stamps as well!   We both had a great time making cards with these images, so I hope they inspire you!  These images are fantastic for masculine cards, as you'll see... but they can be used for so much more than that!  Our colour palette came from the 'Cowboy Up' paper collection by Best Creation, which we've used on all our cards.
Here's a closer look at the two cards that our fabulous DT member, Sarah created! I love the saying she added to the first one:

Here's a closer look at the cards that I (Tara) created:
The tag was inked up with Distress Stains, the saloon stamped with brown Archival ink.  The die cut letters are a TH alphabet, covered with Crackle Accents.  Here's the inside of the card.  The sentiment was printed directly on a tag.

I think I'll be able to use this a lot! I make cards all the time, yet I constantly miss sending out birthday cards on time! What's up with that?

My second card is on a kraft background, stamped with a great woodgrain stamp by Impression Obsession.  Everything else is from the SOTM!  My image was stamped with Archival on kraft and coloured with Distress Markers.
So, what do you think?  Does it make you wanna make a card for a cowboy?  Hope so!  I can't wait to see what you create with these fabulous stamps!

Canada Day Blog Hop!

Happy Canada Day!  Thanks for joining me in celebrating with a blog hop! I got together with a small group of Card Making Canadians on Facebook (from all over Canada) that wanted to have a fun blog hop to Celebrate Canada Day! Today we're sharing with you cards that have been created with either Canadian products, a Canadian theme or Canada's colours! We hope they inspire you!  The full list of participants is at the bottom of this post :)

I will be selecting one random comment from one random blog on the hop to win a $20 gift certificate for our online store, http://creativeaccentsonline.ca so please leave comments along the hop! :)   ***Prize has been awarded!  Congrats to Romaine***

Here's what I created for you today:

I've used stamps by a great Canadian company, Kraftin' Kimmie, papers by My Mind's eye, and some maple leaf ribbon from the store!  It's a pretty simple card with a bit of tissue tape by Tim Holtz for texture.  I used the current sketch by The Sweet Stop.

Next up on the hop is Tracy from Ontario!

If you get lost along the way, please come back here and find the blogs that you've missed :) Here's the list of bloggers in our Canada Day Blog Hop:
