FIESTA time!

Just a couple more days until our National Scrapbooking Day Scrapbook & Cards FIESTA!! We have a few tickets left and you're welcome to claim them until closing time on Thursday!

We've been busy packing up 'goodie boxes' for all the participants and the few remaining packages we've been waiting for to top them up have been arriving (we're still waiting on QuicKutz though... never fear, we do have the GRAND PRIZE here- a Silhouette package worth over $500!). Our classes are ready to go- we've got a fab 6" mini album by American Crafts and an elegant Mother's Day card plus a couple quick projects to do when you're facing a creative block!

Our 'Scrapbooking Pinata' is stuffed with goodies and we found a yummy recipe for some cupcakes to enjoy with our virgin margaritas on Friday night! It's going to be a fabulous FIESTA- we hope you're as excited about it as we are!

QK 2009 Spring Gift Sets...

Coming soon...{click on the photo for something you can actually read!}
I am absolutely thrilled about this new release, but I gotta say, I've got mixed feelings at the moment because this years gift sets are arriving in extremely limited quantities. Like so limited I may not even get one myself because I need to be a good store owner and let the customers at them first LOL.
The sets will be available for purchase on National Scrapbooking Day, and we're hoping they'll actually be in stock by then, too! If you're a member of our QuicKutz club, you can expect more details from us before then. Until then- enjoy the photos! You've got four sets to choose from and they're all a fantastic value. I'd love to hear... which set is your #1 choice? I want them all *sigh* but reuse is first on the list! I'm so excited about the colored dies- and those trees... love them! I also love the font from flirt and the shapes from relax, and...

a little eye candy...

I had so much fun creating this layout with the new papers by Pink Paislee & some fun sheers by Maya Road... plus a bunch of stuff from my stash! Yes, it's ME in those pictures... don't they just crack you up? My title is done with QK's Paige mini (my very first QK alpha- long discontinued, but hopefully they'll bring it back one day!) and Nutmeg. The subtitle is with some fantastic mini alpha stickers by Making Memories- they've been around from years, but they're just so easy to use...

Tanya created this awesome card featuring Miles (the dragonfly) Huggabug by Bella- I love the combo of these Basic Grey papers & the speech bubble from QuicKutz with that great message stamp by A-Muse (did I mention we have new stamps from A-Muse in stock???) and don't you love the distressed edges on the card? That's just those fabulous Core-dinations cardstock- we now have a great assortment in 8.5x11!

Meet Margarita...

Maybe you noticed this little cutie on our Fiesta advertising, but I'd like to formally introduce to you Miss Margarita Ketto, our mascot for this years Scrapbook & Cards FIESTA! She's a wee bit tipsy ;) but awfully cute, and always ready for a good time... like we're going to have at this years event! Margarita is one of the images from the new 'Ketto' line by Stamping Bella- they're petite & sweet and I've been loving playing with them lately!

Margarita will be popping in from time to time on the blog to give you some updated news on the Fiesta! Today she wants to just let you know that there are still tickets available! We've kept the ticket price to just $50, but added an extra four hours of cropping time on Friday night! We're at a new location this year, but still celebrating just across the street- in the old Curves location. We'll be serving up virgin margaritas as part of our refreshments on Friday night for an extra treat. yum! You're welcome to bring a fancy margarita/cocktail glass to enjoy yours in.

Did Margarita mention the grand prize package yet? We'll probably be putting together two prize packages again this year and one of them will include... are ya ready?... it'll include a QuicKutz Silhouette! The package will be worth over $450 and one lucky crop participant will take home this amazing tool!

The Fiesta is going to be alot of fun and a great opportunity for you to block out some uninterupted scrapbooking or cardmaking time! Grab a friend and plan to join us!

3 Card Class & Ketto cards

The samples have been up in the store, but all the new product that's been arriving has distracted me from posting the photo for our 3 card class until today- sorry! Class is on Thursday from 1-2pm or 5:30-6:30pm. We're hoping to do these EVERY WEEK, so make plans to join us for a fun & productive hour :)

In addition to the 3 card class samples, I wanted to share some more cards inspired by my 'egg' card layout from the stamp of the month... I used a bunch of paper scraps and the new QK nesting egg dies together with the oh-so-adorable "maisy ketto" stamp from Stamping Bella to create these sweet Easter cards (I'd say quick, but the coloring did take me a little bit of time!). Hope you like them! I'll have more card samples to share next time I post... we are already planning our next Bella order to bring in some more Ketto stamps, so let us know if there are any in particular you'd like to order!

The papers on both cards are from the My Mind's Eye "Bloom & Grow" collection... I love how many colours they give you to work with. I used my Copics & added a touch of bling with the Spica glitter pens- the finishing touch is our fabulous silk ribbons-yum!

QK April specials, weekend crop & how to lose 10 lbs in a photo shoot!

Alright, so clearly I had caffeine after my body's 'cut off time' today since I'm still wide awake! Before I head to bed to try to get some sleep, I thought I'd post a few things...

First- we've decided to have a midnight crop this Saturday & we'd love to have you join us. All the usual midnight crop stuff applies- join us for a fun time from 6pm till midnight for just $10! (Since next weekend is Easter, we'll have another crop the weekend after that!)

Next- I was checking out the Cosmo Cricket blog since it had been a while, and was encouraged by Julie's weight loss efforts so far this year (I'm kicking myself into gear again & joining a biggest loser challenge with some friends... time to lose the next 40 lbs!) and then I found her link to some tips from her sister on how to look 10lbs lighter in a photo. Well shoot, scrappers all need those tips, don't we!? Check it out and try it out next time you're in a photo (yes, YOU should be in some of those photos!) then let us know how it went for ya... better yet, share the layout with us ;)

Lastly- our April QuicKutz specials begin today (Friday) and I think there's some great incentive to join our QK Club this month- it's just $60 for 6 months and you get a free die each month worth at least $7.49(that cute heart shaped speech bubble I used on one of my SOTM samples is this months!), 15% off QK everyday, a free make & take project each month & exclusive QK Club specials!

Here's this month's QK SALE:
- Buy 2 Get 1 FREE on 2x2 dies
- Jolly gift Set $69 ($59 for Club members) Reg. $99
- ALL alphabets 20% off PLUS get a second alphabet 50% off* (or a coupon for 50% off an alphabet – ask us for details)
*equal or lesser value, not valid on April releases, in stock only*

Exclusive QK Club Deal for April:
Buy 1 Get 1 FREE on 4x8 alphabets! (in stock only)

*Regarding the second alphabet at 50% off: You can choose to purchase a second alphabet at 50% off right away, or opt to get a coupon from us that you can use at a later date (like next payday!). The coupon will be valid for 50% off the regular price of an alphabet of equal or lesser value to the original alphabet you purchased (after discounts) until May 15. The coupon is only valid on alphabets currently in stock & cannot be used on special orders. The coupon is not transferable and is not valid on the upcoming spring gift set or new April/May releases. We reserve the right to further clarify this coupon deal ;)

Thanks for reading- here's hoping sleep comes quickly! I do LOVE your comments, as few and far between as they may be... feel free to respond to anything on the blog! g'night!

p.s. tickets for our 3rd annual FIESTA go on sale Friday, as well... I'll post details here soon!

April Stamp of the Month

Introducing our April Stamp of the Month- "Wasabi" and "Wasabi's flowers", by Stamping Bella! We just fell in love with this fabulous new line of "Ketto" stamps by a new artist to Stamping Bella, and since I've had it in mind to do an Asian themed SOTM for a while, Wasabi seemed like a good choice!

Tanya & I decided to stick to a simple, classic colour scheme this month and use just two patterned papers on our samples to really highlight these fantastic images. (My title for April is done with the "Marigold" alphabet by QuicKutz.)
Tanya paper-pieced Wasabi's kimono (paper by Prima) and stamped & layered her on QuicKutz nesting shapes. The embossed bazzill cardstock adds an elegant touch, and the small version of the flower makes an adorable background. Don't you love the saying, by Amuse, as a go-with for these stamps? It's from their 'sushi' clear set.
This is my quickie card- she is simply stamped in black with a touch of glitter glue on her hair comb & kimono. The flowers are simply stamped off the edge of the tag in red and the sentiment (also from that Amuse set) is perfect on the speech bubble- which is our QuicKutz club freebie for April! I love the red silk ribbon for a bow on the tag... so soft and elegant!
Tanya paper pieced again on this card, this time with paper by Making Memories. I love it! Black bling makes a perfect center for the stamped flowers (also paper pieced) and the row of hellos by Hero Arts is a perfect fit!
I challenged myself to use this assortment of stamps & papers to make an Easter card... what do you think? The new nesting eggs cookie cutter dies by QuicKutz were a perfect fit, and I enjoyed actually coloring these images with my Copic markers- I wish you could see the shimmer I added to her hair and kimono by highlighting it with the copic Spica glitter pens... you'll just have to check it out in person for a closer look!

Hope you enjoyed the cards and I'd love to hear your thoughts on the new line of Ketto stamps! We have a small assortment in stock right now, but are taking requests for the next order... which will be soon, I'm sure!
