More Kissing Booth Cards!

Here's a couple more cards we created with our POTM leftovers :)I've used a combo of pieces from January & February's kits for these cards:

Love the envelopes & die cuts from January's kit- both these cards feature those pieces.
What to do with 'for sale' die cuts... a housewarming card seems perfect!  I cut triangles & rectangles to form a cute little house for this card and fringed a scalloped piece of paper to create grass :)

Feb Kissing Booth Cards

Our POTM class used Basic Grey's Kissing Booth collection again this month for a completely different feel to our layout.  As always, we used the leftover papers, stickers & embellishments to create some cards.  Here's two of them:
With all that pink, a baby girl card seemed like a good project!  Love the mixed letter stickers from this month's kit!
This bird paper was a fave of ours, I've kept the card simple and paired it with a sentiment from Hero Arts.

L.O.V.E. Challenge Reminder

Over at our Seriously Creative Challenge Blog, the February challenge is to create a project with LOVE using Layers, Ovals, Vintage & Embellishments :)

I'm a bit late getting my sample done this month, but I'm glad I waited, because our shipment of Mini Magnolia stamps arrived this week and this sweet little image was just the thing I needed for my card!

Here's the card I created:

The base of my card is the Tim Holtz/Sizzix suitcase die... I've been wanting to make a card with this for a while, and now that I have I think you'll be seeing more in the future!  So fun!  This Mini Magnolia image carrying a suitcase was a perfect fit for it (and quick to colour because she's so tiny!)

I've used:
- Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies (suitcase, butterfly)
- Spellbinders nestabilities
- Kraft Cardstock
- MME "Follow your Heart" papers
- assorted flowers, sevearl of them sprayed with Moon Shadow Mist from Lindy's Stamp Gang
- Copic Markers, Crackle Paint, Distress Ink & Stain, Glossy Accents, pearls

I hope you'll visit our challenge blog and consider playing along this month!  You've got until the 29th to enter!  You can also see the card that Mom (Julie) created if you hop over there today as well!

I'm also entering this card in the following challenges:
CLP Sketch Challenge (it's not exact, but at least it was inspired by it!)

{12 tags of 2012} February's Tag

If you follow this blog, you know that we are big fans of Tim Holtz at Creative Accents and that I (Tara) just love getting inky... I have loved Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas and managed to get 3/12 of them completed this year, but have always wished I had time for more than that... so I'm pretty much delighted with the changes Tim is making this year!  It's sad that he is retiring the 12 Tags of Christmas, but fabulous that he's changing it into a year long journey- with a tag for each month of the year!

I'm thrilled because this gives me a chance to play along... so I've come up with a plan!  Once a month, after Tim has posted his tag for that month (always filled with fab techniques and tutorials), we'll open up the Creative Studio on a Saturday afternoon for anyone who wants to play along.  You can bring what you have for supplies you'll need and use any dies and stamps we have that fit the theme... and between us we'll see what we can come up with to create a tag inspired by Tim's!

We had a small group this Saturday- and just one other lady creating a tag with me (thanks, Barb!) but it was a good time and I managed to create this:
I won't go into a lot of details, since it's broken down really well on Tim's blog... and we tried to use all his techniques!  I used a stamp/embossing folder set from Hero Arts & Sizzix for the background and embellished with stuff from my stash...the ticket is a cast off from a recent in store draw, which I've added Cosmo Cricket stickers to.  The 'live laugh love' stamp is an oldie from Hero Arts.  We had a lot of fun with this tag, and I can see some of these techniques popping up in future classes :)  Here's a closer look at some of the details- enjoy!
p.s. sorry the photo quality isn't the best... I decided to snap some quick photos on my iphone rather than waiting for daylight when I'm back in the store on Monday!

Feeling Crummy?

I'm back with the other 2 Get Well cards from our Occasions Card Class the other night!  As I mentioned earlier, all the cards feature "Good Day, Sunshine" papers by We R Memory Keepers.
The image & sentiment on this card are from Whipper Snapper Designs- it cracked me up when I saw it, and I knew it would make a great card to brighten someone's day when they're feeling crummy!  I used last week's sketch from Mojo Monday for this one, and kept it pretty simple beyond that!
This final card was a great one for using up the scraps leftover from the rest of our cards!  We created the pretty butterfly from (formerly) white Prima flowers- trimmed and sprayed for some shimmer!  The body and antennae were made with bakers twine and perfect pearls.  The sentiment is from a great all occasion set by Hero Arts.

Wishing You Well

We had a fun time at our Occasions Card Class on Monday night, creating some Get Well cards for our stash! Today I'm sharing with you 2 of those cards... I'll be back soon to share 2 more with ya!

All four cards we created feature the new "Good Day, Sunshine" collection from We R Memory Keepers.  This collection just arrived in the store and it called out for me to create with it ;)  It's a springy version of one of my favourite colour schemes, and let me tell you... I'm ready for spring!   This collection is not available in 6x6 pads, but we have 2 different 12x12 sheets which feature 6x6 patterns on the back and for the most part, those are what we used for this class.
This first card was inspired by the current 'deconstructed sketch'... Love it!  We coloured our image (no longer available- from Cornish Heritage Farms) using Distress Ink for a vintage feel.  It's simply embellished with some tissue tape (Tim Holtz) and a fab little metal flower & brad, also from We R Memory Keepers.
This second card was very simple, but I love how it turned out.  We trimmed 1" from the edge of our card and added a coordinating patterned paper along that inside edge, added a die cut (QuicKutz) and a simple tag (yep, we used that 1" piece we trimmed off!) with a Hero Arts stamp.  An eyelet and some twine finish this sweet card off.  Doesn't it look like the die and those papers were made for each other!?  Love it when that happens!

Hope you enjoyed my cards and that you're feeling well today!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Have a Happy Valentine's Day, from Creative Accents! We hope it's filled with the people and the things you love!
This card was featured at Coffee & a Card last week- we used new Starburst Dabbers from Lindy's Stamp gang in two shades of brown to create a shimmery background over this Hero Arts stamp, which was clear embossed on white for a fun resist.  We embellished with some die cut hearts (Tim Holtz/Sizzix) cut from Basic Grey's Kissing Booth papers, over some tissue tape and baker's twine.  A simple paper flower finished it off.

Here's a close up of some of that shimmer!
and here's all the beautiful new sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang that arrived yesterday! We've got close to 40 shades of Starbursts & Moon Shadow Mists in stock... for now ;)  At just $5.50 each, we expect many colours of these beauties to sell out quickly!  (We also have a nice selection of their gorgeous embossing powders... check them out next time you're in the store!)
Again, Have a happy Valentine's Day! I'm hoping my day will be filled with COLOUR... and chocolate ;)

February SOTM

I'm back with all four samples for our February Stamp of the Month! Here's our sample board at a glance:

Here's what the actual stamp set looks like.  There is a coordinating Sizzix die for this set that is just $10- makes it super easy to work with!
We've paired the stamp ("Sending you love" by Hero Arts) with Basic Grey's "Kissing Booth" paper collection.

a close up:
This one is an easel card (well, the version that isn't on the sample board is...)

Mom made this cutie- we absolutely love this bird paper!  So much fun!
I borrowed Sarah's new cityscape stamp from Hero Arts for this one and finished this card off with a SOTM from a few years ago... such a cute image from Amuse (I miss them!), which I thought was a great fit with this label sentiment.
I think this month's stamp will be a very versatile set!  Obviously, we went with a love theme this month... but these stamps will be fabulous for a variety of occasions year round!  Hope you like it!

Forget love... (Graphicat Blog Hop)

Today we're celebrating a re-launch of the Graphicat Sketches Blog with a fun blog hop! We've got a great group of ladies whose cards will inspire you today!

Some of us, like me, are participating as a 'last hurrah' since we're leaving the design team. It's been a fun group to be a part of, but even good things must come to an end...

Other ladies in this hop are brand new to the Graphicat Team, so please be sure to say hello as you hop along! We'd love to have you leave comments along the way... word is that there may be some random prizes from Cheri!

The hop started at Cheri's blog, so if you'd like to start at the beginning (or if any links don't work along the way) please visit her for the whole list!

Our theme, along with using this fabulous sketch, is anti-valentine's day... I selected one of my fave sentiments for my card, and paired it with a gorgeous patterned paper from Canvas Corp (just discovered their papers, and I'm in love... we've got more coming soon to the store!) and some Tim Holtz dies, as well as a fabulous new "Cadbury Milk Chocolate" brown stain from Lindy's Stamp Gang- a fabulous new product coming soon to Creative Accents- it's so pretty and shimmery and affordable, you guys are gonna LOVE these things!
Here's a close up of my little chocolate bundle (there's some Lindt in there... mmmm...) and the hearts coated with the new stain.  I added some details with Black Enamel Accents & Crackle Accents from Ranger.
Hope you like my card!  Funny thing, I'm craving chocolate now...

If you'd like to continue on the hop, please go visit Shelley!

Feb SOTM (part 1) & a Kissing Booth Card Class

Today's post is doing double duty... I'm sharing with you 2 of the cards created with our February SOTM (I'll be back with the full reveal soon... still catching up from our trip to CHA!) AND they just happen to be two of the cards that will be featured in our "Kissing Booth Card Class" this week!

The card class is happening on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 6:30pm and we'll create several cards featuring the Kissing Booth collection by Basic Grey.  We'll make cards for a variety of occassions, using this fun & romantic collection in unique ways!  This fun class is just $15 with a $5 discount if you are a Basic Grey POTM members OR a Stamp of the Month Member (just one discount per person).  Hope you'll join us!

Here's the first card, which is perfect for Valentine's Day.  Our SOTM is a fabulous set of label sentiments from Hero Arts- it includes four different sentiments plus a blank label, it's a very versatile set!

here's a close up of the texture I added to the center panel and the shimmer on the flower... you'll get to play with a new product that we ordered at CHA in this class ;)
The second card will be a sweet 4x4 easel card (though it's just a card front on my sample board!).
Here's a little zoom in at the textures...
And that's it for now!   I'll be back with the other cards in a couple days... hope you'll consider joining me for this fun card class on Tuesday night!  We'll be playing with paper, flowers, stamps, dies and more... bring a friend for an enjoyable evening!
