Meet Neko!

New products from Magenta arrived this week- just a small sampling of cling mounted stamps (including our March SOTM... which you'll see samples with next week!) which include one of their Cat of the Month stamps. This series of stamps is Limited Edition and each stamp will be discontinued on it's one year anniversary. February's cat is "Neko" and I absolutely love the samples the Magenta artists created using it! These stamps come in both a small and large size and while quantities from this shipment last you can purchase the small stamp 50% off (just $4!) with the purchase of the large one! You can see both sizes featured in the samples below, but I think the small one would be a great complement to the large one. Wouldn't it look great on a matching envelope or the inside of your card?

We also brought in the March 2009 Cat of the Month stamp... which will be discontinued next month! It's a gorgeous image with a celtic knot in the background framing the cat. Perfect for a unique St. Patrick's Day card :)

Fun with Hero Arts!

We just LOVE all the fabulous new Hero Arts stamps in the store and couldn't wait to play with some of them! Here's a few cards we've made so far:

The first two were inspired by cards created by my stamping hero, Jennifer McGuire- I just LOVE her creative mind and the fresh look she gives to stamps! These will most likely be showing up in future classes ;)

This first card uses January's SOTM as a background and my fave part is two-fold: 1. It's a gift card holder, but still looks great when the gift card is removed. 2. The java jacket was stamped on some CORK (I used the QK adhesive backed cork) which gives such a fun texture!
I almost freaked when I saw this technqiue.... seriously, it rocks and it's so much fun! I can't wait to try it with more stamps and the new colours of distress ink when they arrive ;) This technique WILL be featured in an upcoming class featuring techniques with Distress Ink! Possibly a future Technique Tuesday class? Aren't those greetings lovely, too? They're part of a great clear set that is very versatile. Unfortunately, they're the only stamps on these cards that are still in stock... yep, these Hero Arts stamps are selling quickly, so check them out soon for the best selection!
Mom made this last card for my aunt & uncle's anniversary- isn't it lovely? We don't have the flower in stock at the moment, but we do have several other pretty ones that could give you a similar effect. It's perfect with these papers by My Mind's Eye!
Thanks for browsing at our cards! Hope you enjoyed them!

Eye Candy 4 U

Just wanted to share a bit of eye candy with you today... seems it's been a little while! First up is a fun birthday card I made for a girlfriend's 50th Birthday last week. I just love this owl & all the goodies that go with it from Cornish Heritage Farms and had a blast coloring it up with my Copics. The 'waterfall' Stickles I added to the hat & 'who' word just made it POP and it was super pretty and sparkly in person! I learned that I've come to depend a lot on patterned paper for matching things up and let me tell ya... this little dude didn't match with ANY! So, it was a perfect time to pull out one of my fave QK embossing folders and a fun Spellbinders die to finish it off. I was really happy with how this card turned out- hope you like it!
These two 12x12 layouts by Leslea feature the "Sweet Cheri" papers by Imaginisce. I love that she's done two single page layouts with different themes using the same collection of papers. I really love the rainbow heart of buttons on the second layout- so much fun!

We really enjoy having Leslea on our design team. She's the only current member of the team without her own blog, so I'll be making more of an effort to post her projects here on our blog. Of course, you can always check them out here in the store- the details are always better in person :) These layouts are her latest, but I'm hoping to find some time to photograph some of the others we've got on display right now & share them with you here soon!

Valentine Brainstorm

So today the grade 2/3 class I work with (my 'day' job!) had a brainstorm session for a writing assignment and it spurred all sorts of ideas for me! You've still got time to whip together some fun Valentine's and maybe this list will inspire you- think through what you've got for stamps, die cuts, stickers, embellishments & papers that would otherwise be totally non-Valentine's day items and see what you could do with them... maybe it'll spur a few ideas of your own:

Valentine, you are the

· Cream in my coffee

· Cards in an envelope

· Toys in my toy box

· Seeds in my apple

· Fruit in my pie

Introducing Project 12

We've decided to join together with Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine and introduce you to something called Project 12. The Project 12 challenge is simple. The idea is to create a layout on a monthly basis which recaps what you’ve been doing. Whether you took 31 photos, no photos, or 100 photos, simply choose your favorites that best described what you were doing that month, and create a layout. The end result will be a complete album representing 2010 (just think- if you're also participating in our Basic Grey Page of the Month program you could have TWO complete albums this year!).

The beautiful thing about your 2010 album is that some of the work has been done for you by way of Becky Fleck’s sketches. Every month the sketch will be a little different, but at the end of the year, you will have a cohesive album as each sketch will have similar elements.

Here at Creative Accents, we'll be declaring one of our crops each month a "Project 12" night, where you can come with photos from the previous month and work on your layout. Sketches & full details for Project 12 are available on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog. We recommend you check out the new sketch each month and plan ahead which photos you would like to use before coming to the crop. Our first Project 12 focus will be at our crop on February 12- this will allow you time to complete your January layout by the Feb. 20th deadline!

Of course, you don't have to participate online & submit your layouts each month, but there are prizes to be won... and we all love prizes! Even if you don't win, think how good it will feel to have a finished layout each month! (I'm actually contemplating scrapbooking last years photos for this project! LOL)

Check out the fabulous sketch Becky designed for your January layout- then take a look through the photos you took in January and see which you can use to make this sketch work with them! We look forward to creating with you throughout 2010!
Now that you've been inspired by Becky's sketch.... why not hop on over and print off a FREE copy of the February set of Page Maps! It's one of my favorite things!

February 2010 SOTM

Here's they are: the sample cards for our February Stamp of the Month! You can see alternate photos and a bit of a how-to from both Tanya & Eulanda on their blogs. I apologize for the washed out photos... my camera died on me mid shoot and the camera I normally use for this is at home- oops! Of course, these all look much nicer in person, so we'd love it if you came to see them in the store :)This first card is my contribution to the board (I just couldn't let go and let the girls do ALL of them!) I stamped the wavy flower border on some satin ribbon from my stash with Brilliance ink (it's the BEST for ribbon!) and matched it with some pieces of the coordinating patterned papers. I embossed the frame, sentiment and butterfly using American Crafts ZING embossing powder and cut out the designs. They're edged lightly with distress ink and mounted on the card with foam squares. The addition of some Prima flowers and clear bling from Hero Arts finishes the card off. Hope you like it!
I won't bother describing these cards for you, as the girls have done so on their blogs- but I will tell ya the first two were created by Tanya and the final card by Eulanda :) Thanks so much for your contribution ladies- it's great having a helping hand with this project!

February Stamp of the Month

Introducing our February 2010 Stamp of the Month! I absolutely love the new Letterbox collection by American Crafts, so I decided to just go with it and bring in a coordinating stamp set by American Crafts as well! SOTM members will enjoy the versatility of this set, Enjoy, especially when combined with all the matching papers & embellishments we have in the store!

I knew the end of January would be a bit crazy for me, so I asked two of our designers, Eulanda & Tanya to help out by making card samples for our board this month! I'll post some photos tomorrow of their cards (plus the one I put together tonight!), but you can check out a peek by visiting their blogs- here & here. Enjoy! I'll see you again tomorrow!
