I love taking traditional themes and adding my own twist to them, so for this card that included using book print as my background and Kraft card stock for my die cut. I inked my background with Distress Oxide Ink in Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough & Rustic Wilderness. I chose the oxide inks for a softer look that blends nicer on a lightweight paper like book print. For this project I used a foam blending tool. Once everything was inked, I splattered a bit of water on the background as well as some heirloom gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water for a bit of shimmer.
I used Honey Gold Nuvo Glitter Drops on the star and added some dimensional stars in the sky with it as well. I don't normally mix metallics on a project, but somehow it worked for this card since my card base is a deep steel grey tone. I finished everything off with some green ribbon, which I dyed with Rustic Wilderness Spray Stain, (The greens of the background and the ribbon match better in person- I just couldn't capture it quite right!) and finally a couple nickel toned embellishments by Tim Holtz from my stash. It was my first time actually using one of the little stars and I love the look!
I really love this die cut and how it fills an A2 card front perfectly. I'm sorry my photos don't accurately capture the shimmer & colors on this card, but I promise it's prettier in person :)
Wishing you peace & sending inky hugs,
Tara
