I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, whatever your celebration looked like this year! Even though I'm living south of the border, my family here joins me in celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving in our home each year. The biggest challenge is always finding a turkey, but I've been successful each time so far :) I sure do miss my family and friends back in Canada though, which is why I chose Lawn Fawn's Miss You sentiment for this card.
I was using some autumn shades of Distress Paints for another project (which I shared here yesterday) and decided to try and make a card with them as well. Here's a look at the colors...
I started with a background embossed with Tim Holtz's Medallion 3D embossing folder.
I then randomly applied the Distress Paint in a circular pattern (like the design) over the entire background. I used the dauber tops on all the colors, except my new Crackling Campfire which needed to be applied with a brush.
The background was a bit wild looking at this point, so it's a good thing I had plans for the next step, which involved Ground Espresso Distress Paint. I painted it over the surface in sections and wiped it off with a cloth, which gave the final result you see on the card.
I trimmed the embossed panel down, wrapped a strip of vellum around it and tied some red twine around that. I added a Wildflower die cut and sentiment to finish it off.
I'm pretty pleased with the muted background, it's a fun technique to try with the extra dimension on the 3D embossing folders. I hope you'll try it!
Inky (Painty) hugs,
Tara
