September SOTM!

Oooh, we've had some fun with this little cutie, getting samples ready to share with you today!   Our Stamp of the Month is from a company brand new in the store, SweetPea Stamps.  This little dragon reading a book seemed like a perfect image for back to school season and our September Stamp of the Month!  These stamps are unmounted rubber, but we've mounted the SOTM on EZ mount for you so you can get stamping right away when you take him home!  Our samples have been created using papers & colours from Cosmo Cricket's 2WENTY-THR3E collection, with additions from the element deck (die cut cards) and Washi tape.

Mom made these first two cards:
Our SOTM is silver embossed and has been coloured with chalk pencils on this first card.  The background is an actual dictionary page that has been glued down and inked up with Distress Ink :)

This second card features an image stamped on watercolour paper with Archival Ink & coloured with Distress Markers.  The image is cut with a set of nesting dies from Lifestyle Crafts- this one is included with their new Genius magnetic platform (we've sold out of our first shipment and are taking pre-orders for the next).  The garland is a piece leftover from our Basic Grey POTM kit "Clippings" that has been embellished with flowers & bling for a feminine touch :)
I (Tara) had fun pulling out my Copic markers (they've been neglected lately!) and colouring up an orange dragon for this card. I kept the rest of the card pretty simple, layering a card from the element deck & one of the other papers then adding a flower for dimension & texture.

Our sample board wouldn't be complete without a bookmark!
I've used a #8 tag as my base for the bookmark, inked it up with Dylusions sprays (Bubblegum Pink & Squeezed Orange) together with some Dylusions stamps in Pumice Stone Distress Ink- it's pretty vibrant, but it worked out okay with these papers and their muted tones.  My dragon was stamped with Archival ink & coloured with Distress Markers.  The book was coloured with some Dylusions that I sprayed onto my craft mat (next time I'll use one of the new pipettes so I don't make such a mess!) and picked up the colour with my waterbrush.  It was a fun way to coordinate the image with the background, since there is no way to get that look with Distress Markers :)  I trimmed a row of books from patterned paper and added some Washi tape for the 'carpet' he's sitting on.

I hope you've enjoyed our samples!  We've got an assortment of other stamps by Sweet Pea Stamps in stock and they're 20% off for SOTM members until the 15th of September!
