I'm playing along with the Compendium of Curiosities 2 Challenge again... this time we're using Tim's "Shattered Stains" technique, which I love! You can find the how-to written in A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2 on page 48. (We have one copy of this book left in stock at Creative Accents!)
I'm still playing around with the Spring Distress Ink set, so again I've used that as my colour palette. My tag background is done with those colours as well as some brushed corduroy reinker for a burst of brown, using the wrinkle free distress technique. I love how splotchy it turned out and almost hated to cover it up...
Umbrella man is my focal point, and he features the shattered stains technique. The sentiment was inked with Distress Markers on a Specialty Stamping Paper ATC, with a light covering of Brushed Corduroy over that and a generous splattering of water :) I have to confess... I went and saw 'Dark Shadows' at the theatre last weekend and as soon as I saw Johnny Depp with a trench coat, hat and umbrella I knew I'd never look at the Umbrella man the same again :)
While I was playing, I tried another tag featuring last weeks 'faded layers' technique... I went for a masculine look this time and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I kept it pretty simple, but added a few gear brads (which I painted with some black Vintaj Patinas paint & sanded) for some texture.
All stamps, dies, inks on both tags are by Tim Holtz :)
