Happy New Year! {January 2011 SOTM}

We're kicking off the new year with a great new Stamp Of the Month! Our SOTM is by My Favorite Things- it's from one of their newer lines, the à la modes- in fabulous, deeply etched cling rubber. This one is called "Take Time" and it's a fun set which includes this sweet girl holding a clock and several coordinating sentiments. Time management is always a challenge and I know for me, many of my new years resolutions tend to tie into it!
I worked together with Cheri to create this months samples, and we both were very impressed with the quality of the rubber (other lines of My Favorite Things stamps are clear stamps) and the fantastic storage solution they offer- each set comes with a laminated index card which the rubber clings too! Love it!

We used papers by Cosmo Cricket this month- the fabulous Circa 1934 collection. I can see myself having a lot of fun with these papers, it's an unexpected colour combo, which I expect we'll see a lot of in 2011!

The first two projects, a card and tag/bookmark, were created by Cheri. I'm not gonna give you a whole lot of details here, because I know she'll be posting all the deets on her blog in the coming week or so. Watch for it all there soon :) I will draw your attention to the awesome bathtub and bubbles on the card, though- love this use for liquid applique! Sometimes we need to be reminded to take time to relax, don't we?
I'm thinking 'take time to read' is also an excellent New Years Resolution... so many books I'd like to dive into!
Here's the New Years card I shared earlier. I used papers from the Circa 1934 6x6 pad as well as from their 12x12 sheet of 'elements' it has some great spots for journaling or stamping as well as some fun quote and sentiments. I finished my card off with some ribbon and a fun pin by Maya Road as well as some Tim Holtz goodness (I had to- I'm using the Vagabond die cut machine at every opportunity now!)- one of his 'on the edge' dies (postage) and his Chip Block alphabet, which I cut out of core'dinations cardstock and covered with Crackle Accents by Ranger. I'm not sure how well it photographed, but Miss à la mode also has some Crackle on her clock- I love how it looks over something that has been glittered up with a Copic Spica pen!
Last up is another card by me. Miss à la mode is layered onto paper cut with another Tim Holtz die- one of my faves, which I was so excited to see matches with the brand new 'die-namics' by My Favorite Things! See the sentiment there? It's stamped onto a die cut by MFT which comes as a set with matching stamps! This one comes with three frames that fit the shape perfectly and assorted sentiments that fit within those. LOVE this concept and I think they'll be used all the time!

This card also features some yummy flower ribbon by Maya Road (yay for reds that match!) and a fab cup border I cut on my Silhouette machine (thanks to Janet for the great idea!). This card is kind an odd size- I think it ended up being 6.5x4.5 inches. I may try a re-do in a different size, but I'm pleased with how it turned out anyways! This card would be perfect to send to a friend you hadn't seen in a while, or an invite for a girls night. I definitely think another 2011 resolution should be to take time to get together with friends more often, don't you?

Isn't it a fabulous stamp set? I think I'll be using this one a lot! I hope you'll use it as well- remember to take time for yourself in 2011!

We have exciting news about our Stamp of the Month (SOTM) program! In the coming days we'll be introducing SOTM Perks! I'll start with the first one today and tell ya more about it this week sometime!

FYI
  • It is FREE to join our SOTM program- all that is required is a commitment to purchase each future stamp at 35% off. Members also agree to give us a minimum 1 month warning before canceling their membership.
  • We work hard to bring into our store a variety of fabulous stamps and other products, and the SOTM is a great way to build your stamp collection and expose yourself to new things. (Trying something new is another great resolution!)
  • Each month we feature a new stamp by a different stamp company (meaning you'll get a diverse collection with a variety of themes and styles of stamps). Stamps may be wooden, clear or cling mounted.
  • There is always a sample board in the store and on the blog with at least 4 unique samples featuring the current stamp.
New this year will be some SOTM Perks- every SOTM member will be offered an early bird perk of a 20% discount on other stamps by the featured company on the day they pick up their stamp. This discount is only valid until the 15th of the current month.

It's a great time to sign up for our SOTM! Here's to a fabulous, creative year!
