Happy Friday and welcome to the Scrap 'N Stamp 16th Birthday Bash Hop! Every year we can celebrate our favorite place to shop and find inspiration is a BIG deal in my books, so it's definitely reason to celebrate! As always, we encourage you to leave comments along the way... one name from those comments will be randomly selected as the winner of a $50 gift certificate to the online store!
Even better that we get to celebrate with inspiration AND savings, how does 16% off your order sound?! Use the coupon code 'BASH16' on your purchase through March 6!
My card for the hop is a fun & simple one- I wanted to use my new birthday washi tape (from Doodlebug) and I wanted to take the topper from my Hero Arts Mug Tag die and make a cupcake with it!
I started with the cupcake... I used white glitter card stock to cut the topper and instead of using a mug, I trimmed some corrugated cardstock to the size I wanted my cupcake to be. I pulled out some shades of pink Distress Paint and blended colors until I was happy with the mix and how it would work with the two shades of pink in the washi tape.
While I waited for everything to dry, I got to playing with my background concept. I finally decided I would fill the background with washi in random diagonal angles on white cardstock. I'd already selected orange as my base color, so I die cut it with the largest stitched rectangle die. I used the next size down to cut my white washi panel. I wanted the orange to show through the white when I die cut my bold text sentiment from it.
I finished off my design once all the elements were dry, adding some tiny flowers and a bunch of bling & sequins! I still kinda feel like it needs a candle on it... but I may try another version with a candle instead of flowers! The dimensional cupcake turned out pretty cute too, so I'd love to make more in other colors!
Thanks for stopping by! The next stop on the Birthday Bash Hop is to see Meghan!
Inky hugs,
Tara
