Christmas in July Inspiration Hop!

Thanks for joining our Christmas in July Inspiration Hop!

We've been experiencing a heat wave here in NC and I had to do some serious imagination work to get myself thinking Christmas for this card!  Of course, it always helps when you have new supplies you ordered a bit too late to use for Christmas, like the stencil set I'm featuring by Pinkfresh Studios and of course I had to play with the new Distress Spritz's to add some shimmer!

The hop starts on the Scrap 'N Stamp Blog & you will find all the fun details there, including a full list of links, prize & sale info!  I've seen a few sneak peeks and I think you're going to love the variety of cards this month!  There should be some inspiration for everyone!  When you finish here, you can visit Kia's blog for the final stop on our hop!

Don't forget to leave comments along the way for a chance to win a $50 GC to the SNS online store!

My card is really quite simple- but I did play with some layering stencils.  They are quite user friendly, especially when you can use them with a Grip Mat like I did.  I've just got a small 6x6" one, which is big enough for most card fronts.  These stencils are sized (and corner mark to line up easily) for an A2 card front.  I started with a piece of book print slightly smaller than that and worked through three shades of green Distress Oxide (one on each stencil) and finished with a red for the 4th stencil.

The book print had been misted previously with some Distress Oxide spray, which gave it a bit of extra texture.  Then I added some more afterwards with Weathered Wood Distress Spritz!

Once I pulled out the Distress Spritz, I decided to run with it... I added some red over red cardstock (my die cut word) and green over the green card base!  The colors aren't a perfect match, but I figured I could easily get away with it since I had so many shades already in the stencil design!

I ended up cutting the background with an oblong oval die to soften the image and break up the pattern a bit.  It's a very flat card, but there is tons of shimmery dimension to catch your eye!

Thanks for stopping by- hope you feel inspired to get a head start on your Christmas makes :)

As I mentioned previously, the next stop is KIA!  Happy Hopping!

Inky hugs,
Tara
