Basic Grey POTM: The Cards {Life of the Party}

Wow... what a week last week was! We had a great time in our Basic Grey Page of the Month classes this week, creating a fabulous double paged layout featuring the Life of the Party collection... and what a versatile collection it is! One of my fave parts of these classes is seeing the photos the ladies choose to use on the layouts, and it's so cool to see how such a great variety of photos will work with one design! If you're taking the class and haven't added photos and journaling yet... consider this post your not-so-gentle reminder to DO IT! :) Trust me, it feels GREAT!

I've decided that this year I won't be posting on the blog our versions of the layout (you can see them in the store) but I will share with ya the bonus card I teach at each class, as well as any others I put together using the leftover pieces from our class kit. Occassionally you'll see that I've added another sheet of paper into the mix, but if you come to our POTM class (or take the class at any other store!) you should have ample supplies to make some variety of these cards at home yourself!

This first card is the one some of the ladies completed after class- the background image is one of the coordinating cling background stamps Hero Arts has teamed up with Basic Grey to do- LOVE this idea and totally think it's a match made in heaven! The focal image of this card is a sentiment by Tim Holtz which has been partially inked and completed with some of the letter stickers leftover from the layout. The blossom you see is from the new 'petals' embellishments Basic Grey is releasing for their collections and they are FAB- a combo of paper and canvas flower shapes that coordinate with the paper line. LOVE them!
Card 2 here was a quickie- I used some leftover pennant pieces (we cut A LOT of these babies out for the class, but they really are fun to use on projects!) and assorted presents I cut from another piece of paper. The '4 U' is from another of the alpha sticker sheets we used.
I had this third card finished a few days back and just waiting for a stamped image to fill the open space... I decided to use this cute chicken from Whipper Snapper today cuz it fit the space (LOL) and was quick to colour! This card will be great in my stash for one of my (many) coffee lovin' friends! I think I'll add a pocket inside to be a gift card holder...
So there they are- some quick cards using scraps from class! It feels great when you finish a scrapbooking project to whip up a card or two with leftover pieces before you put it all away, and it's a great way to build your card stash too!

p.s. TONS of new products arrived today and we'll be working on pricing it all... but I had to open up the package of new Express It Blending cardstock from Copic and use it on this image and it worked great! I look forward to trying it again with something that I'll put more than 5 minutes of effort into ;) The 12 newest colours of Copic markers are here as well as lots of pretty papers and inks and...
