Birthday Blog Hop for TEILA!

Another one of our Seriously Creative Design Team members, Teila, is having a birthday, so we're celebrating once again with a little blog hop! If you've stopped by and enjoy these little hops, please let us know :) We love feedback!

This hop is all about celebrating TEILA, though- so we hope you'll send some birthday love her way! Teila- we hope your birthday and the coming year are full of delightful things! We're blessed to have you on our design team!

First up is a card created by Julie (aka my mom!). She used some gorgeous springy papers by Graphic 45 to help brighten up the winter for Teila! The main image is by Stampendous and the tissue paper flower is all gorgeous- a Tim Holtz shape all misted and stamped and crinkled... pretty!
I went a more whimsical route with my card, featuring some of my fave birthday images- Miles & a friend enjoying some birthday cake... maybe a little too much :) Teila loves baking so I decided to 'bake' her a little calorie free birthday love with this card!
This is another easel card, which I designed based on the current Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Along with the Kraftin' Kimmie images I coloured up my mice & yummy chocolate cake with Copics and added a touch of Spica glitter pen and Glossy Accents to finish it up. I had fun adding pearls and trinket pins (love these ones by Maya Road!) to jazz things up a bit.
Here's a close up of my card base- the sentiment, from Hero Arts, is perfect with these stamps :)
Hope you enjoyed our cards! Now continue celebrating Teila with us and hop on over to see what Janet created for her! Of course, you can also visit Teila's blog and leave some birthday wishes for her there :)

Happy Birthday Marianne!

It's my friend Marianne's birthday day and while I didn't get her card *to* her yet, I'm thrilled I at least have it completed before the day's end! I've been itching to colour up this fun "Krafty Stamper" image by Kraftin' Kimmie and I knew Marianne's birthday is the perfect occassion... she LOVES stamping and she's crazy about Kraftin' Kimmie stamps!

Hope your day has been delightful, Marianne! I look forward to the next time we can get krafty together ;)
Here's a look at what my card looks like standing- it's a 5.5" easel card and I had fun with some fabulous papers by My Mind's Eye here. I also added a bunch of pretty flowers from my stash here, so I'm entering this card in the current Fancy Florals challenge on Kraftin' Kimmie's blog! I've embellished this card as well with an awesome eclectic metal sign by Making Memories (one of those pretties you save for cards for special people- ones you know will never throw it out! LOL) and added the coordinating "Let's Get Krafty!" sentiment on the inside/base as well.

That's it for today! Hope you have some time to get krafty this weekend- we've got a day crop scheduled on Saturday from 11-7 if you'd like to join us :)

It's no surprise that we love die cutting at Creative Accents! We are happy to bring you the latest releases from Lifestyle Crafts(QuicKutz), Sizzix & Spellbinders as well as special ordering Cuttlebug products for you! If you're thinking about getting a new die cutting tool? Here's the scoop on some of our favourite manual tools that are currently available through our store!

  • Epic 6 & Epic 6 Letterpress Combo- this has been the standard tool that we carry & use in our store. The Epic 6 is available for just $89 (reg.$99) and can be adapted to cut all brands of dies up to 12" long.
  • The Vagabond is our new love! This heavy duty electric machine, designed by Tim Holtz, allows you to cut any type of die up to 12" long (with adapter plates) at the push of a button. Resembling a well traveled suitcase, this quiet machine easily replaces all of our other die cutting machines! It's both powerful and portable. The Vagabond sells for $275.
  • Big Shot- This heavy duty manual tool is a favorite of many. Heavier and with a larger footprint than the Epic 6, it comes with a multi-purpose platform to cut dies up to 8.5" long (12" platforms are available separately). As an individual tool it's available for just $115 (value $150). Ask us about bundle deals that are also available for even more savings!

Epic 6 owners- We are ordering in some multi purpose platforms from Sizzix, which can be used together with the pair of Sizzix cutting mats (which many of you already own to cut Sizzix dies) as a replacement for your Epic 6 platform and flex mat. The length is 8 3/4". Regular retail is $30, but we're offering it for $22 ($18 for Die Cut Club members) . Let us know if you would like one, or stop by if you'd like to try it out in the store.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Today we're celebrating that it's Sarah's (one of our amazing Design Team members) birthday! We've organized a little blog hop in her honour, featuring the cards we've made for her! If you've already been hopping, you arrived here via Carla... if not, just keep going and you'll get to her eventually! We're 'looping' through instead of having an official beginning and end!

My card features some fun new stamps from Hero Arts together with Basic Grey's Pyrus collection, a QuicKutz/Lifestyle Crafts die, gears from 7gypsies and from Tim Holtz, who Sarah and I both adore, I've used lots of Distress Ink and some tissue tape!

I wasn't sure if my mojo was going to show up in time for me to get this card done, so I turned to Mojo Monday for some inspiration! I knew I wanted to use these new stamps, so I was thrilled when this week's sketch fit them so well :) Here's my take on the sketch and my birthday wishes for Sarah- hope you have a great day, girl! I'm looking forward to playing with you at our day crop on Saturday! (There's still room for more to join us- 11am-7pm!)
So when I told Mom (Julie) that I finally had an idea for my card, she mentioned that she'd been looking around online and had planned to use... get this... the current Mojo Monday sketch for her card! LOL. So, Mom has turned the sketch on it's side to fit the birdhouse & bird die from Tim Holtz. She's used it together with some QuicKutz shapes and a sentiment from Amuse. The papers are random ones she found in our stash (heehee) she was going with a monochromatic color scheme, a la Cute Card Thursday!
Check out the awesome shimmer on the birdhouse! Mom sprayed it with new Maya Mist called "Antique Silver" which has a fabulous brown base to it... so pretty!
Now continue hopping on over to Tanya's blog! Happy Birthday Sarah- hope it's full of wonderful surprises!

The closest guess will win a copy of a 2011 Calendar from PageMaps and Scrapbook & Cards Today!

Patterned paper on our Clearance section is not included in this count- and I will tell you, the papers have been counted, but we won't tally the total until this contest closes- on Friday! So- take a wild guess and enter your votes here! Good luck!

Happy New Year {again}

While the new year is still fresh, I thought I'd share another card with the January SOTM, "Take Time" by My Favorite Things. She's such fun to quickly colour up! I'd been wanting to use this image together with the silly cityscape by Hero Arts, and while I didn't get to it for the SOTM sample board, I played at our Wrestling Day Crop! I had a blast pairing these images and spraying my background with our Copic Airbrush system!

This was my first airbrush project (apart from spraying some flowers in a few random colours) and so long as I don't look too close, I'm quite happy with it! (don't go looking too close now...). I sprayed on a kraft card, which gave a unique texture to the colours. I used a random assortment of blues, oranges and purples to make my sunset, then stamped a small star image in Versamark Dazzle Ink (while you're *not* looking too close, check out that you can actually see the dazzle). My sentiment is half of a new sentiment by Stamping Bella (I thought I could skip the part about Christmas). I added some more dazzle to this card with a Spica glitter pen on the clock and clear smooch paint on the clock faces & sentiment. This was also my first chance using some new iridescent bling- so fun!

Hope 2011 is off to a creative start for you! I'd LOVE to see any projects you make with our SOTM!

Happy New Year! {January 2011 SOTM}

We're kicking off the new year with a great new Stamp Of the Month! Our SOTM is by My Favorite Things- it's from one of their newer lines, the à la modes- in fabulous, deeply etched cling rubber. This one is called "Take Time" and it's a fun set which includes this sweet girl holding a clock and several coordinating sentiments. Time management is always a challenge and I know for me, many of my new years resolutions tend to tie into it!
I worked together with Cheri to create this months samples, and we both were very impressed with the quality of the rubber (other lines of My Favorite Things stamps are clear stamps) and the fantastic storage solution they offer- each set comes with a laminated index card which the rubber clings too! Love it!

We used papers by Cosmo Cricket this month- the fabulous Circa 1934 collection. I can see myself having a lot of fun with these papers, it's an unexpected colour combo, which I expect we'll see a lot of in 2011!

The first two projects, a card and tag/bookmark, were created by Cheri. I'm not gonna give you a whole lot of details here, because I know she'll be posting all the deets on her blog in the coming week or so. Watch for it all there soon :) I will draw your attention to the awesome bathtub and bubbles on the card, though- love this use for liquid applique! Sometimes we need to be reminded to take time to relax, don't we?
I'm thinking 'take time to read' is also an excellent New Years Resolution... so many books I'd like to dive into!
Here's the New Years card I shared earlier. I used papers from the Circa 1934 6x6 pad as well as from their 12x12 sheet of 'elements' it has some great spots for journaling or stamping as well as some fun quote and sentiments. I finished my card off with some ribbon and a fun pin by Maya Road as well as some Tim Holtz goodness (I had to- I'm using the Vagabond die cut machine at every opportunity now!)- one of his 'on the edge' dies (postage) and his Chip Block alphabet, which I cut out of core'dinations cardstock and covered with Crackle Accents by Ranger. I'm not sure how well it photographed, but Miss à la mode also has some Crackle on her clock- I love how it looks over something that has been glittered up with a Copic Spica pen!
Last up is another card by me. Miss à la mode is layered onto paper cut with another Tim Holtz die- one of my faves, which I was so excited to see matches with the brand new 'die-namics' by My Favorite Things! See the sentiment there? It's stamped onto a die cut by MFT which comes as a set with matching stamps! This one comes with three frames that fit the shape perfectly and assorted sentiments that fit within those. LOVE this concept and I think they'll be used all the time!

This card also features some yummy flower ribbon by Maya Road (yay for reds that match!) and a fab cup border I cut on my Silhouette machine (thanks to Janet for the great idea!). This card is kind an odd size- I think it ended up being 6.5x4.5 inches. I may try a re-do in a different size, but I'm pleased with how it turned out anyways! This card would be perfect to send to a friend you hadn't seen in a while, or an invite for a girls night. I definitely think another 2011 resolution should be to take time to get together with friends more often, don't you?

Isn't it a fabulous stamp set? I think I'll be using this one a lot! I hope you'll use it as well- remember to take time for yourself in 2011!
