Fall Card Class- ideas & options

We're working on our fall class schedule and are looking for ideas to see what YOU, our customers, want to see us offer!

One possibility that has come up is participation in a monthly class featuring cards by Basic Grey. We'd like to see a commitment from several people before proceeding with this, but each month we'd create 8 cards and you'd take home materials to make at least 4 more (with a downloadable pdf from Basic Grey to show you what to do)!

Each kit will include:

›› Designer Cardstock and 6x6 paper pads from BasicGrey’s most current collections
›› A selection of our most popular embellishments (rub-ons, epoxy, pops, woolies, stickers, buttons, brads, lace paper, etc.)

The kit would be worth between $20-$30 each month and the total class fee would be around $35.

September's kit includes the gorgeous Indian Summer collection and October's kit features Eerie. Please send us an email or post here if you are interested in committing to something like this!

Also drop us a line if you have any special requests for classes- we'd love to fill our studio workspace :)

Music to create to...

I'm convinced that it's gonna be a good week... I did a road trip last weekend and am now a COPIC Certified Designer (woot!) and I'm completely in denial about how quickly this summer is coming to an end!

I recently got a list of tunes from Making Memories of 100 songs they're calling their 'scrappin playlist'... fun, right! So as I work on downloading some of them and creating a new eclectic playlist to crank at our next midnight crop (this Saturday night, 6pm till midnight) I thought It would be great to hear some of your fave tunes to create to! Maybe they will end up on our crop playlist! And maybe I`ll have to give some blog candy to one of the wonderful readers who shares their faves... hm... will have to see what I can round up! Maybe a few Copic Spica Glitter Pens...

{watching in wonder}

This layout was my project at our midnight crop last week, the photos were taken last summer when we went to the Vancouver Aquarium. (I'm trying to make myself scrap some 'old' photos before I do my NY trip!) I used a variety of papers, including Basic Grey's Lime Rickey, some glitter paper by doodlebug & Bazzill Bling cardstock. I added some clear embellishments from Fancy Pants to add some extra dimension
Here's a close up- This was my first project using one of the new embossing borders by QK- I loved that I could do the full 12" length, six inches wide on the Epic Six and that border was wide enough to emboss my title as well! I sanded it after embossing & applied Broken China Distress Ink over the raw white core that was peeking out. My title is done with Diesel grand & Flirt gift set alphabets by QuicKutz and the cute little dolphin is from the Relax gift set. I finished it by applying some glossy accents/diamond glaze to a few dots on the embossed border.
and here is the sketch I used as my starting point, from the PageMaps book!
Thanks for reading!

August Stamp Of the Month

Here they are, the rest of the August Stamp Of The Month samples! I hope you'll enjoy our simple cards and be inspired to create something fabulous with this new set of stamps, the 'mens collection' by Wordsworth. All our cards feature Crate Paper's "Lillian" collection, which is so sweet and cheerful! A couple of them have some of the fabulous glittery die cuts as well as the papers. "August" is cut with the awesome new QK font, Teriyaki and '2009' is from the Central Park font.
This one here is kinda a 'bonus' as it's not really a card... just a die cut tag thingie LOL. I used some of the Basic Grey 'bling it on' rub ons with it though, I thought they framed it nicely. Love this sentiment, so true. (Dan's sermon at church on Sunday reminded me of it!)
Mom put this little sweetie together- isn't this glittery frame pretty? We loved the little yellow prima flower with this sentiment. This card went together pretty quick- the saying is embossed in brown and the frame is raised on foam squares.
I love that this is a pair of stamps, ready to be mixed and matched inside & outside of your card. Not much to say about this card, either- the flowers are paper pieced and I cut a little slit around the stem to slide the string through and tie the tag on. The little bird house in the corner is from one of the other papers.
The sentiment on this card, which mom made, will be perfect for GUY cards, as well as graduation, retirement... all sorts of occasions! The bird is from the glittery die cuts and the branch is by QuicKutz. Have I mentioned that I LOVE these sentiments!?
... and you've seen this card already- I used an old Hero Arts shadow stamp to put the distressed circle behind my images (inked in two colors of chalk ink for added texture) and simply stamped in brown over top. The flowers are paper pieced. The layout of the stamping on this one is a total copy of some samples on the Wordsworth website, but I changed up the colors and the rest of the card ;) Sometimes it's just not worth messing with a good thing, ya know?
Hope you enjoyed the samples... feel free to post and share what YOU create with them! Maybe you'll even use them to play in our Celebrations challenge? You've got until Friday to join the fun! It's worth $300 people... we'd love to see YOU join us!

August SOTM... take 1

Just a quick post while I'm enjoying a relaxing Sunday afternoon... here's one of the sample cards featuring our August SOTM:

We're very excited about this month's Stamp of the Month for a few reasons...
1. It's not just ONE stamp, it's a SET of fantastic stamps at a great price (just $18 before our SOTM members 35% discount!)
2. We're featuring another BRAND NEW company in our store- Rubber Soul/ Wordsworth! Wordsworth has long been a favourite of mine for beautiful saying & quote stamps and this set is no exception. We had a hard time selecting a set since there are so many fabulous ones, but we did bring in an assortment of others to give you more options to add to your collections ;)
3. There are 5 different quotes on this set as well as this lovely bouquet of flowers, which works nicely with several of the quotes. One of the 5 quotes is even a two-part stamp, the smaller part of which you saw on one of my 'hoppy' cards earlier this week!

I'll post the rest of the samples when I'm back in the store on Tuesday- we kept them pretty simple this month to really show off the sentiments, but I'm sure you'll find them fitting in on many of your upcoming projects! Here's a peek at the entire set:
enjoy!
