The latest release by QuicKutz is completely unique- 'Fresh & Funky' is the theme and it is all that and more! The entire release is IN STOCK today and we'll have a fresh make & take for QK Club members on April 1 (as well as your exclusive QK club die!). We're looking forward to playing with these new goodies and can't wait to hear your thoughts on this release, so please share! Here's a few samples I pulled from the QuicKutz website- there are tons more there (and the gallery is overflowing with great samples using the Silhouette, as well! We still have a couple of the original tool in stock on for just $225!).
I started my layout with a template I liked the arrangement of and completely changed it up from there (it started with a snow theme!). You can swap out ALL the elements of a template- including background papers, embellishments, words & text boxes... Since I have a premier membership (on sale now for just $99 US for a full year!) I have access to thousands of pieces of premier art- much of it organized in collections, just like traditional scrapbooking supplies! For this layout, I chose a collection called "Life's Canvas" and used only elements from that kit, which made it really easy to coordinate. I loved all the little pieces and words from this set and it was really easy to adjust sizes and direction of each piece to put them exactly where I wanted them!
I haven't ordered my project yet so I can share with you how long it takes to arrive, but as soon as we're done the mini storybook about Mom & Dad's trip to Cuba, we'll get that order off and share more! If you want to see the quality of the products, we do have LOTS of samples in the store from Heritage Makers.
I know that digital scrapbooking will never replace the 'hands on' stuff, but it is a great option for me when I'm on the go or want to do something creative at home (since I do all my creating at the store!). All you need is a computer with an internet connection and you can start creating- everything you need is at your disposal once you log in to your account!

Upload a photo on this website and it creates a colour palette for you based on the photograph- I believe it was created for web design, but it definitely has a use in scrapbooking projects! If only it would also spit out the Bazzill colours you need ;)
Looking for a quick way to increase your card stash? Check out the Sheetload of Cards blog each month for a new sketch & template to help you create a 'sheetload' of cards. A typical month tells you the supplies needed to create 8 cards. I tend to read the details carefully and then mix it up a bit (I get bored easily)! This month I took their instructions and used 4-12x12 sheets of cardstock instead of 8-8.5x11 sheets for my card base (it just made more sense when making 5.5" square cards!). I also created my cards with a friend- so we each still made 8 cards, but had only 4 from each color scheme. Here's my sheetload this month:
All the stamps I used (except the "dare to be different" stamp) are by Hero Arts. The papers are by Prima & Fancy Pants.
Did you know that you can order photos online for pick up at the Wholesale store photo lab here in town? A big PRO- right now they have free upgrades to 5x7 prints! You just pay the 4x6 price, 19 cents. The CON: online photo editing is very limited- you can only crop your photo in the same direction it already is. No colour editing (ie. Convert to B&W) or red-eye features are offered. Still, it's one of the best places to get photos printed in town and the price rocks- plus, when I ordered online it was ready for pickup the next day! The only catch is that if you want a 'matte' finish, you need to order glossy and request matte by adding "matte" to your name in your account info. For some reason if you request matte otherwise they print them out east and ship them here.

And just 'cuz it's so darn cute, here's a card I wanted to share! Tanya created this cutie using Cosmo Cricket "Cogsmo" papers and fun robot stamps by Stampendous! It's another fabulous birthday card perfect for boys!
Check out the prima flower makeover- don't they make fun gears? A customer shared the idea with us and we just had to try it out!

The 'spring' banner you see peeking out underneath the cards is a kit you can purchase for just $5! We've also put together an assortment of page kits for just $5 each- valued at approx. $8!
Our make & take project for QuicKutz Club members this month is a 12x12 "Lucky Me" layout. Members can stop by anytime this month to create it for FREE- just another perk you get being a member of our QK club! This layout features the new shamrock dies (2", 4" and border) and the Chick a dee alphabet. It's ready for you to add a 5x7 photo (or a couple 3.5x5.5" pics).
Other GREEN things happening this week...
Midnight Crop- Saturday March 14 Join our 'green' themed crop this weekend from 6-midnight. Cost is just $10 and we'll have door prizes for people who either dress green or bring green munchies to share! Bring a friend and whatever project you're currently working on! Please let us know by Friday if you can make it as space is limited.
Pot O' Gold SALE starts Saturday and goes until Tuesday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day!) You can pick your savings from our pot o' gold- you'll save at least 17% on your regular priced purchase... or you could be one of the lucky customers who saves up to 37%!
Just a few recent projects I wanted to share! The card & Corteo layout feature awesome new flocked paper by Prima (plus flowers & ribbon and more fabulous goodies) and the fungi card is one I had in the works a while ago and just finished up- love these mushrooms by QuicKutz and the papers by Basic Grey, perfect card for a fun guy ;)

Tracey & I decided to play for a bit on Friday night- we used the Marrakech line by Basic Grey and samples done by Hero Arts as our inspiration... here's what we came up with! All stamped images (except the 'you are special' saying) are from the set- it's got so many fantastic pieces, I think everyone will really enjoy playing with it!
If you're not familiar with our stamp of the month program, here's a few details: each month I select a stamp from a different company- it may be wood mounted, unmounted rubber, cling mounted or clear. There is always a board with at least 4 sample cards created- posted here on the blog and in the store. The stamp is always 35% off for SOTM members (it is regular price for anyone who is not part of the club).
Members are committed to purchase the stamp, like it or not. We ask that you give us one month notice if you decide not to continue with our SOTM club. Our goal is to give members a variety of stamps in their collection from a variety of companies. Purchasing from a variety of companies means that the style & theme will vary from month to month. Hopefully members will find a use for each and every stamp, and if they don't personally like a particular stamp they'll find someone to give it to who will enjoy it ;) It's always a good thing when we challenge ourselves creatively- you never know where your creativity will take you!
I hope you enjoy these samples, and feel free to share with us what you come up with yourselves!
