QuicKutz spring release

Spring is coming... I'm hopeful it will be soon (and soooo ready for it!), but for now, we do have touches of spring arriving in the store now. Take the new release from QuicKutz for example, it's bursting with signs of spring and it's all in stock right now! Here's a few samples from the QK gallery that caught my eye:

Coming Soon (photos from Edmonton)

I didn't take a lot of photos when I was in Edmonton last weekend, but here's a few samples using products I ordered- trust me, there is sooo much more to come! There are lots of new baby collections, tons of companies with amazing specialty papers (flocked, embossed, glittered...) and mini books everywhere! There also seems to be a lot of new products with a 'collage' type feel to them (which I love- but I'd love to hear what YOU think about it!) and there's some great new tools & accessories I look forward to getting my hands on!

My make & takes and class samples from the weekend will be on display in the store for a few more days still, so just ask to see them if you're in the store next week! I had a great time and have lots of fresh inspiration for upcoming classes!

Here's a great sample layout from Karen Foster Designs using the mechanic papers we already have in stock:

Little Yellow Bicycle released some great new lines- the first to arrive will be these baby boy/baby girl collections:

The 'fabulous' collection from Chatterbox is a really unique collection- my photos didn't turn out very fabulous, but these products have a lot of potential!
Cosmo Cricket is such a fun company- we have bits and pieces in stock already from their new releases, including the sweet 'Lil' Man' line.

... and there's lots more to come, I wish I had more photos to share!

Sketches & Page Maps

Did you know that in addition to the awesome free monthly sketches from Becky Fleck at Page Maps, you can print off the monthly sketches by Becky Higgins featured in Creating Keepsakes magazine?

I found this pdf file of 40 sketches ready to print off. Sweet! Their website also has a bunch of bonus features ready to download, check them out here and enjoy the inspiration!

BTW, in addition to the layouts this month, Page Maps has a set of tag maps for ya! fun! If you know of any other fantastic places to get free sketches (for cards or layouts) post a comment with a link. Please- I love comments :)

Class this week!

Join us this week to "Use your stash & Get Scrappin!" Tuesday, Feb 17 @ 7pm
I've sketched out THREE double-sided layouts, each featuring at least five 4x6 photos. Dig into your stash of pretty papers and get scrappin! You'll need 3 sets of 2 patterned papers (at least 1 set should be double sided), we'll provide (and help you choose) coordinating cardstock for your layouts. This class is great for all levels of scrapbookers- from beginners just starting to build their stash to advanced scrappers who want to get a bunch of photos in their albums! Your 3 layouts will be ready to add photos and embellishments when you get home. Please register by 5:30pm on Monday to reserve your space!

a new look

I've been thinking it was time for a new look for my blog for a long time and tonight I came across the cutest blog on the block which has some great free backgrounds! This one reminded me of a fab paper collection by Pink Paislee, so I thought I'd give it a try... There's still lots of work to be done, but I'd appreciate feedback anyone wants to offer ;)

This week...

On sale this week at Creative Accents: Patterned Paper is 20% off!

NEW in the store (but not yet on the shelves, so not included in this weeks sale...) Marrakech & Porcelain collections by Basic Grey! They're completely unique and completely beautiful- come check them out on the table in our studio!

We also got in the three new 4x8 alphabets from QuicKutz: Chandelier, Disco & Supermarket- and they're all fabulous.

Ooh, I also have a bit of news if you're a QuicKutz Silhouette owner (or are considering purchasing one). The software for the new Silhouette SD is now available as a free download on the QK website- it's an upgrate with some great new features that you're going to want to get! You'll get the ability to weld words with the click of a button (fabulous!) and make a shadow for that word (or any shape) in just a couple clicks, PLUS you'll get 50 FREE shapes in addition to the ones you already have- and there are some amazing ones! But please, make sure you have the 'old' software installed first because you don't want to lose the original 50 designs that came with it! We still have a few of the original Silhouette's in stock right now- on for just $220 (40% off the regular US retail!) so it's a great time to purchase one!

Plan to join me next Monday night for a Silhouette class- bring your laptop with you and make sure you have the software upgrade installed & ready to go! Depending on how many people are signed up, we may ask you to bring your Silhouette along as well. (We only have so many power outlets!)

Tonight's the night!

It's finally here... the night so many of you have been waiting for! Tonight at 6pm we'll draw the names and see who the winners of $2000 (Grand prize is $1000 plus 4 other winners!) worth of QuicKutz products are! If your name is in the draw, be sure to join us at 6pm- you must be present to win (and to select your winnings!) See you at 6 o'clock!

Here's a few reasons some of our customers love QuicKutz:
"The two favourite QuicKutz that I love and could not have done without before Christmas were the "dragonfly letters" and the different "flourish" cuts. I made six calendars for gifts and they added so much finishing, they looked great!"

"Hi there are so many things l love about QK. The layering you can do on cards. I use all my QK cutters on a regular basis for my cards. I was unsure when I signed up to become a QK club member whether I would be able to use some of the dies that are chosen as the monthly pick. It has now become a challenge to see how many different ways I can use it that month."

"Hello, I love my Quickutz because they are fast, unique and versatile."

"I love my QuicKutz Silhouette because it allows me to cut out all the fonts on my computer in whatever size I need them!"

"I love my Quickutz.....all of the products because they are sooooo easy to use, they are sooooo versatile, and they have such awesome dies. It just makes scrapbooking and cardmaking more fun and easier. I keep the squeeze and the revolution at hand on my craft table all the time, and they are well used."

The SOTM challenge

Let's start 2009 with a challenge! I challenge anyone who is a part of our SOTM program to participate by submitting any project you have created with either January or February 2009's stamp of the month! Bring your project by the store before the end of February and we'll display them on our tree for up to one month- if we get more than 8 entries, we'll draw a name to see who will win and get their March SOTM for FREE! (If we have less than 8 entries, the winner will get their stamp 50% off instead of 35% off.) Are you up for the challenge?
small print: your project will be returned to you at the end of March- mail order customers are welcome to participate & we will happily pay the postage to return your project to you if we are unable to include it in your regular SOTM envelope.

February 2009 SOTM

Introducing our February 2009 Stamp of the Month! We decided to do something a bit different this month and feature a combo deal- both a clear stamp set and a 6" pad from the new "Bittersweet" collection by Basic Grey! We had a great time playing with both the stamps and the papers to make our sample cards, and we hope you will too! Our sample board title this month is made with the new "Sugar Sweet" cookie cutter alphabet from QuicKutz.

This card features a double heart die by QuicKutz and an assortment of papers from the kit- can you spot the small stamped images in a few of the hearts?
Tanya aimed for a masculine feel with this card, taking this simple flower image and turning it into a border!

I embossed this flower twice- once on brown & once on pink, before gluing them together on this awesome new 'label' die by QuicKutz.

Simple & Elegant, Mom blended two shades of chalk ink on the image before stamping. The center was stamped seperately, brown on brown, and trimmed to add a 3-D touch. Of course, a touch of ribbon & bling finishes it off!
